Julia Marie Naglestad - photographer (44) from Kristiansand
Living + working in Oslo since 2006
Besides photography, I have always been fascinated by horses, cowboys, hats, nature ++
In 2015 I needed a new path in my life - and I finally wanted to learn how to ride. And after a bit of research I found out that gauchos (Patagonias cowboys) are absolutely raw! I found an American-owned farm in Argentina : www.ranquilco.com - and decided to set out on an adventure for a few months.
We rode over mountains in sun, wind, rain and thunder. Through rivers and galloped over the Argentin steppes - and I loved it! I loved it so much so that I had to return the following year. And since then there have been trips in Morocco and Mongolia (twice) , as well as shorter trips in Iceland, Lofoten and Hallingdal + Valdres. And in June 2024 we went to Georgia where we lead 50 + horses over the mountain to the summer pasture; www.unicorntrails.com/andbeyond/georgia/georgiaautumnhorsedrive/
Without a background from the horse environment and stables ++, it has been difficult to find a place in Oslo to ride regulary , so I was very lucky when I finally found a horsefarm near Oslo where I felt welcome.
Many thanks to Liv & co at Solli Gård in Asker - who teach me everything they know about horses.
I LOVE YOU!
«In the Icelandic language there is only the word hestur, which means horse. Locals and farmers could get very angry when their proud animals are called ponies.”
It was at a course about the Icelandic horse with Pernille Notevarp that I heard the expression "Don't Call Me Pony" for the first time. I liked this expression - so I embroided it on a cap. People really seemed to like it -so - then I bought the domene + ordered merch to sell = CAPS + TOTEBAGS
I can be booked as a photographer for new work and projects. And I love to travel far outside Oslo for all horse-related projects. It is also possible to buy prints of my photographs.
Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
